Pain Free Moving Tips From a Minneapolis Apartment Co
Author: Nathan SmithMoving into a new apartment is often times a big deal for many people. It is a big decision to make and moving can put a lot of added stress on those that are moving. That being said, some of the stress of moving can be relieved with the help of effective planning before the big moving day. There are some important steps to take at various stages in the moving process, so don't wait until the last minute to think about some of these things.
Before moving, check your renter's insurance. See if the insurance covers any of your belongings during the move. If you don't have renters insurance, get it before you move to help protect you. It is also important to begin filling out change- of-address information on your monthly bills and statements to make sure all of your time sensitive stuff will be mailed to the correct address. Lastly, if you get to select your moving date, do so wisely. If at all possible, move in on a week day because all banks, utilities and government offices are open in case you need anything or any assistance.
Packing also requires some advanced planning. Save your newspapers and any large boxes you might come across for some time before you move. Newspapers make excellent packing paper and you can never have too many boxes when you move. Designate an area of where you are living as a packing station and start putting stuff you have all packed up there. Try to pack a little bit each day to avoid last minute packing and extra stress. If you have a pet, arrange to have your pet stay with a friend or family member to take care of it on moving day because taking care of your pet can add unwanted stress. As you are packing, be sure to label your boxes so you can easily tell what's in them when you are unpacking. Save your linens and other bulky items to pack last because they can easily be put into bags last minute if you run out of boxes. The day before you move, pack up some essentials that you know you will need before all of your boxes get unpack. Pack these things in an easily recognizable suitcase or box for easy access.
Following these tips may help alleviate some stress on your moving day and ensure that you have all of your bases covered before you even move into your new apartment.
